10 Beautiful Places to Visit

There are so many places I’d love to explore, so I put together a little travel wishlist. I’m starting with El Salvador, then adding a few other destinations that caught my attention. These are ideas for future trips, rather than reviews of places I’ve already visited.

1. Suchitoto, El Salvador

Suchitoto caught my attention for its historic streets and views over Lake Suchitlán. It seems like a lovely place to spend an afternoon walking around, looking at the buildings and stopping somewhere for food.

2. Ruta de las Flores, El Salvador

I wanted to include more than one place in El Salvador because there’s so much to see. This route connects towns in the western highlands, and the mix of mountain scenery, coffee culture and little town stops is what makes it stand out to me.

3. La Fortuna, Costa Rica

The Arenal Volcano area is one I’d look into for a trip with more time outdoors. The green scenery and volcano views would be a nice change from a city vacation.

4. Positano, Italy

The houses along the hillside and the views of the sea are what put Positano on this list. I’d want time to wander through the little streets instead of trying to fit everything into one afternoon.

Kyoto appeals to me for its temples and gardens. The Arashiyama area, especially the bamboo grove, is somewhere I’d love to see while taking time to learn about the places I’m visiting.

6. Kauaʻi, Hawaiʻi

Kauaʻi’s coastline is what draws me in, especially the cliffs along Nāpali. This would be one to plan carefully, since access to some parks and trails requires reservations or permits.

A valley surrounded by mountains and waterfalls sounds like somewhere I’d want to slow down for a few days. Lauterbrunnen made my list for the scenery and the chance to spend time away from busy city streets.

8. Santorini, Greece

The white buildings above the volcanic caldera are what first caught my eye. I’d love to see the island views in person and leave some time to explore beyond the popular photo spots.

Pena Palace and its woodland park make Sintra feel different from the other places on this list. I like the idea of a day spent seeing the palace and walking through the gardens.

10. Big Sur, California

Not every beautiful place needs a long flight. Big Sur has ocean cliffs and redwood forests, which makes it a California destination I’d keep on my list. I’d check road and park conditions before choosing where to stop.

Which one would you choose first? I think the hardest part would be narrowing it down. Before booking anything, I’d check current entry requirements, local travel advice and any reservations needed.
